Religious Experiences and The Jersey Devil
I was driving to rehearsal with my friend (who shall remain anonymous) and the subject turned to this sort of topic. It turns out that my friend's mother had childhood visitation from several entities, includng a cherub, a demon, an angel, and the Virgin Mary. It was the description of the demon, of course, which set me to add this to my personal ravings.
The description was: A horse's sort of head, and a hairy body, batlike wings, and long, thin limbs....sound like anyone familiar? Well, to me, it sounded a whole lot like the descriptions of the Jersey Devil.... of course, it sounds a bit like a pooka, too, but then those can be pretty varied. Very interesting, eh? The assorted visitations occured on June 4th and 5th, 1965, and were quite lengthy and detailed, but I cannot go further into these details without consulting with the parties involved to make certain this is acceptable to do.
I really must write about The Angel story soon. It was a November kind of tale so perhaps I will be inspired to put it into cybertext soon.
