Insomnia Central and things overheard
So it's day four of little or no sleep. I have to teach tomorrow so it's going to be Big Fun for both me and my students. I slept a little bit last Thursday and have caught an hour or so each night. It's now Sunday around three am.
I'm sure that this probably has to do with the sleep deprivation, and also how quiet it is here late at night alone, but I keep hearing a conversation going on and I can't pinpoint where it's coming from. I can't really make out what's being said, either; all I hear are muffled voices coming from somewhere fairly near. I thought it could have been from one of the neighbors' houses, but when I looked next door, all the lights were out, and when I looked at the other next door, all the lights were out there too. Ok, people talk in the dark, too, I know. But you'd think I'd be able to pinpoint where the voices were coming from, or recognize them as the neighbors' voices, maybe. I'm hearing one of the voices from the conversation right now, a young-sounding male voice, that sounds sort of like it might be in the front yard from here (upstairs). There's something mildly tinny about the voice, but I have already checked all of the radios, the answering machine and the tv to see if there was something hinky going on with them. I almost caught the words "over there" I think, just now. This isn't the first time I've heard it, but it is a particularly good example of it. I've heard of rare people picking up radio signals with their fillings in the old days. But, alas, I don't have any fillings, either.
If I were more the scientific type, I'd try to stay up for a few more days and maybe try to tape record whatever it is. But I'm not so scientific, and I'm finally getting a little sleepy, so I'm going to make the attempt to sleep.
